This book tells us the history of democracy and how important to participate in the democratic process easily. According to this book, the word 'democracy' comes from the Greek words, and 'demos' means 'the people', and 'kratein' means 'to rule', so democracy means 'rule by the people'. In Japan, people who are 20 years old and over 20 are eligible to vote, but there are some democratic countries where people are ineligible at age 20. On the other hand, in some democratic countries, people are eligible at age 18. This book also says there are some democratic countries where voting is compulsory. I think that many people waste their right of voting in Japan. I think people in Japan should be more interested in political affairs to make Japan better country.
